‘Game of Thrones’ Animated Series is being Developed by HBO Max

Sources reported that an animated version of the American fantasy drama television series ‘Game of Thrones‘ is currently in the very early development stages at HBO Max.

Francesca Orsi (HBO drama head) and her group have also been reportedly working with source author George R.R. Martin. There is no concept yet. Meetings with writers are underway.

Rep.s for HBO Max had no comment on the animated version of the series Game of Thrones. The animated series is expected to debut in 2022.

‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoffs

It’s been nearly two years since the series finale of Game of Thrones created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss aired. Two prequel series were announced to be in the works following the conclusion of the Emmy-winning original series.

In a ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoff, ‘House of the Dragon’, the first cast member announced as Paddy Considine. He will play King Viserys. Matt Smith (The Crown, Doctor Who) will play Daemon Targaryen in the prequel show. Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One, Bates Motel) will play Alicent Hightower. Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers) will play Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The prequel series, a Targaryen-based live-action series helmed by Thrones alum Miguel Sapochnik alongside Colony’s Ryan Condal, was ordered at HBO in 2019. It will debut in 2022.
