Paramount says that a fourth Godfather is always a possibility. According to Paramount, a fourth Godfather could happen if the right story emerges. However, the director Francis Ford Coppola who will release a recut of his final Godfather film won’t be involved. The recut, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, will be released later this month.
“While there are no imminent plans for another film in the ‘Godfather’ saga, given the enduring power of its legacy it remains a possibility if the right story emerges.
There may well be a Godfather IV and V and VI.”
Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone
The recut, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, will be released later this month. The recut will have an unpopular ending.
Francis Ford Coppola said: “Mario Puzo’s THE GODFATHER, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone is an acknowledgment of Mario’s and my preferred title and our original intentions for what became The Godfather: Part III.
For this version of the finale, I created a new beginning and ending, and rearranged some scenes, shots, and music cues. With these changes and the restored footage and sound, to me, it is a more appropriate conclusion to The Godfather and The Godfather: Part II and I’m thankful to Jim Gianopulos and Paramount for allowing me to revisit it.”
