Adult Swim’s popular animated comedy series ‘Rick and Morty’ created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon will return for its fifth season on June 20. Adult Swim has designated the 20th of June as “Rick and Morty Day”.
Season 5 of the Emmy-winning animated comedy series was delayed due to the pandemic. Co-creator Dan Harmon had said that the team is continuing to work on the season: “I shamefully tell you that my old way of thinking I need to perfect the script before I hand it off to artists was so ass backwards that even during a pandemic — now that I’ve started collaborating better — we’re way ahead of the non-pandemic schedule… – robot boobies… because it’s the future. You thought regular boobies were interesting. Wait until 2021 hits you.”
Harmon also said: “There’s an episode in Season 5 where Morty has a relationship with another female character that’s not Jessica. It’s just a great little story and my very, very longtime friend and collaborator Rob Schrab wrote it…He’s also a very tender writer; a juvenile, John Hughes, he really feels heartache on a level a man his age shouldn’t. There’s an episode coming up in Season 5, my Emmy is going to that one.”
The series follows space-traveling adventures and misadventures of mad and alcoholic scientist Rick Sanchez and his young high school student grandson Morty Smith. The characters of the series are the members of the Smith household, which consists of parents Jerry and Beth, their children Summer and Morty. And Rick Sanchez who is the main character is Beth’s father and he lives with them as a guest. In the series, different versions of the characters inhabit other dimensions. Season 5 will consist of 10 episodes as usual. You can watch the Season 5 trailer below!
